There were many inscriptions on the walls of the basement – among other things there was the signature of Kaliski from Dębie. Among the inscriptions one of them written in Jewish was characteristic „who gets here, doesn’t get out alive any- more”. We didn’t have anymore illusions when it came to our fate.(…) Some time later we heard the shuffle of bare feet in the basement’s corridor – nearby the basement we were locked in.
We heard the call of Germans “quicker, quicker!”. I understood that they were leading the Jews through the corridor to
the backyard.
After a while I heard the sound of closing car doors. Screams arose, a knocking at the car’s side. Next I heard the car start- ing and after 5-6 minutes, when the screams quietened down the car drove out of the backyard. (…)The car they were gas poisoning people in (…).”
